Dreams

Scientists have long wondered why we sleep and why we dream. A new study provides evidence for some long held notions that sleep and dreams boost learning and help us to make sense of the real world. Even naps can help, the researchers found. Dreams can rock us, scare us, and in some cases, inspire us. Some people used to believe that dreams simply reflected the random firing of nerve signals while we sleep. "The thinking was that the dreams were meaningless and didn't serve any function at all," says Harvard. I found this in a book in was reading. "Dreams can provide inspiration or help you get unstuck from problems because your mind is working on things in this different way," Finding the meaning in your dreams is like growing a garden, the pros say: The more you do it, the greater the insights it yields. "If you're regularly tending your dreams, once in a while you'll have a breakthrough that grabs you by the throat,". Thers a son that talks and express dreams with felings.

So making the dream assigment it was so succesfull, because i really dream a lot. But most of the times i don't remember what i dream about. Do making this and expressing it in my journal helped me alot, because throught writting what remember helped with the other parts i for got off. My journal has been really great, because it helped you realized a lot of things that you my not remember or things that you though you never think off. So making this helped me realized that you never for anything, that you just need to start from where you started your dream and trying to complete the puzzle. When you start making you will realized that you remembered everything as you dream it.

My experience with the "Blogs Reflection"

This experience about having a blog has been really great, this is my first time writing about my things and expressing what i feel. At the begining i din't like the idea of writing your opinion about experience you had. But during the semester i think than making blogs has helped me on my writings, expressing my self and sepecially felling free when i write. Because trought writing you say things that you never imagine that you could say or write. It feels like a conection to youre brain, because the more you write, the more you express your self. It's like a bond between this two that it's hard to explain. It's a felling that the more you write the more you get inspire. Some times it's hard expressing youre self in another language that you are not use to. It's obvious that spanish is better and essear, but english hasn't been so bad after all.

Writing blogs has helped me as a person, because i've been learnig so much. You learn trought wrting and reading. That helps you grew youre knlowedge and helps you as a person. To me writing can inspire you to great things and makes you do realiza that you have th skills to create new things. I started felling pleasure trought the time writing this blogs, because there is a time when you can't stop writing and you just write and write. Even if you have mistakes you keep writing and it feels so good.  I know that i still have to learn and practice my writing, but that doesn't change that i like writing so bad.

Group experience "The Curious travelers"

My group and I are called the "Curious Travelers" what can i say about them? I love my team mates, we had creat more than a group a little family. We all get along and we love sharing our things with each other. The thinngs that holds us or we can said that keeps us together or bond is oure sincerity. And the fact that we allways helpe each other in everything. That if some needs something I know that any one will say yes. I truly like my group also because we are very expressive and we say everything.

I remember that at the beginig i was not to happy about the group situation, because i had bad experience with others group an i din't want to happend again. But since the time pass i really loved the idea of it, because i had learned alot with the and also learned with each and one of us. I love the fact that if i don't understand something they can all helped me so everyone in the group. My biggest and horrible thing that i din't want to do was the oral presentations. That was my biggest issuse. They helped me alot getting true that, because it really scared me and i din't know why. I like the fact that they were by my side, because  i knew if i made a mistake i had them there with me and helped me. They also made my fell save or confident by my self. So i think that i progress alot with them. I really appriciate them for everything. I can also say that we all learned something from each other, because that is what the group was. And it really worked very well.
The "Curious Travelers" was the best group i had in my intere semester i can say in the two years i've been in college.

My Day as a Tourist

In my day as a tourist i visited "The Old San Juan", because i think that this is the place that is most visited by tourist and has the story of Puerto Rico. So i went on a saturday, because was my only  day free and i decided to take my mom and my little sister. At the begining it was really funny, because we din't know what to say and we are also a little shy. When we were thinking my mom and I where trying to some how look like tourist and then she came out with the idea to take my sister because she looks american. Cause people here have this concepts, that if you have blue eyes and blonde hair, your from United States. The thing that we din't worry about was the english, because my mom is from New York, My sister is in American School and I know english since little. That menas that we can speak it very well. So when we had everything planed, we started the tourist adventure.

The three of us where walking to "El Morro", were people flight kites and alot of people sit to relax or just simply take pictures. As we all walked we saw to mens sitting on table playing "dominos" and they were talking and having a great time. So my mom and I looked at each other and we knew that there was oure oportunitty to make the tourist assigment. When we were walking to get to the old mens they new that we were hating to them, because they got nervious and scared. The three of us were trying not to laught. So when we got to them we asked them if they kwen about a little store that we could shop. The old mens got nervous and they din't know what to say they were pointing each other an saying:" asked him  asked him" and then my sister started laughing and we told them that it was an assigment that we were from here. They laught and say:" thanks God, because we don't know english".

Exploring in my day as I tourist a say othering in this guys with us, by the way they treat us and the way they looked at us. The out group, because if we were reall americans they will fell bad about the situation that they were refusing us. I also say thats identity is really important in this assigment because every one is different and we can not be ashamed were we come from. We need to be proud no matter how people treat us we can't change who we are.

The Rum Diary

This film was based on Hunter S. Thompson book. I really like this movie, because it show us the world in wich we are living in. in this one talks about Puerto Rico goberment, culture and society. Its really important that we educate oure self seeing movies about Puerto Rico or the place youve been born, because we need to now the storie and roots were we come from. Seeing this movie show us the importance to know about oure society, because we see everything based on true storie in here. Its better to see it in the movie, because we could visualised it better. in this movie we saw a lot of othering betwenn diferent cultures, out group and in group too.

The movie started during 1970´s narrated by Paul Kemp that was the main character. So it started by Johnny Depp arriving to Puerto Rico. He was going to work for the local news paper, writer. Johnny had like a boss that hes name was Sanderson. He gave Johnny the work of the tourist and he had to go all over the island an explore. Johnny dint find it so interesting at first, because he just wanted to write not visiting. Sanderson is the one that makes othering with the natives of the island. He also makes them fill like if they were not part of their island, because he treats them like if they were nothing. Paul had alcoholic problems and he always was in trouble. I think that they taught because they had money had power and can do what ever they wanted to. This are examples of out group and in group. Because you don't fit in the same group of people you are suround, for some reasons. In their case was the ambicious and the fact that they thought they had power.

This movie helped me visualize the perspective of the american people and how they see people with bit money, some poors like nothing. We do not see this kind of stuff only in Puerto Rico we see it all over the world.

Perspective on "Down on the Island"

After reading "Down the Isalnd " by Jim Cooper I started thinking about my education and wondering what it will be of me, If i din't had the education I had? The things i learned more were spanish, ciencie and social story. Because in math i din't had professor on hight, we always were doing sustitutions. By the fact we were so bored of the sustitutions that we just to copy the excersise wrong so that the teacher singned us the notebook. My english is good because my family lives in the United States and i use to visited them on the summers. My school was horrible on english. I mean the teacher they had din't had the skills to teach the students. So I can say that can speack it well, but my righting... Yes ! I need helpe some times. But after all i fell good, because i know that i can defende my self, and i love talking in english.

On chapter one Cooper was really impress how alot of students din't know english or they din't care about it. He saw how hard was to us to learn another language, because we see here that they don't care. I like the fact that he visited public schools and see how they were teaching. But it is a chaim how the education in Puerto Rico is afecting us in a future. Because what we learned now a day  it's what we are going to teach our future people. And every day it's worst. On the esconde chapter he talks about the copy cat, and how students live based on that. You know, it's hard some times getting use to some structure that we din't learned about. A can talk about that, because i went trought that on my school with my match class. I'm not saying that we copied in test by on the sustitutions we were supposed to the, well yes. Or most of the time we haded all wrong just to have the profesor signature. The part he talks about how students, helpe each other thats really true. But that doesn't mean that we copied. Cause I had done that with my friends but we discuss to theme or the work and then we put different stuff. I know that other people to helped others that does not no the language gives them the work. Because I have done that, and we do it because we do not want  that people to get a bad grade on his class or fail. We do it because we know that we can helped them to come out good or just to be good friends.

My journal experience

My experience with the journal has been really good, because i wrote every single day about my personal things and it felt so good expressing everything. some times you don´t have some one to talk and then you realized that you have the journal. Most of the time you consider it your friend, because you know that it wont say nothing and that it will lisent to you. I mean everyone has a best friend that it will be there for you no matter what, but sometimes you need to keep your things to yourself. The journal has been my best friend since the first day i said everything to him.

The journal has helped me remember alot of things, like my dreams. When we did the excercise about the dreams it was really fun and at the same time it was really interesting how can people remember their dreams by writing a little bit about  what they remembered. when you keep writing everything goes back in to youre mind and thats how you can remember everything. i mean that was the thing that happend to me. I really dream alot and when i´m writing i get every piece of detail that some how i forget when i woke up. For me this was my best experince, because is so interesting how can you remember stuff that you just forgot and remember it by writing part of it.

I also talk about the places i want to visit in a future and my plans. Writing my dreams in here has helped me keeping my head straight. Its really good expressing how you feel sometimes, even the life compass, because it makes us a better person that we were the other day. Looking to youre older journals can helped you see how you've change, by youre humor or the way you may think. It show us how people can change the way of thinking or maybe just say "Mature" in just days.

Reaction of A small place

Jamaica Kincaid in a small place writes about the Antiguan government tourist industry and the legacy left by the British in Antigua. She critizies about England and talks about their hostility. Me as reader i could  feel the hatred and the anger the author feels toward England colonialism and it effects. In the novel, she points a picture of emotions she has about slave trading and the erasing of a culture that is native to Antigua. Kincaid also uses many literary devices like metaphor to strengthen her voice on a event that dominated a great part of her life. I asume that when she talks about how an invasion of one's homeland can create an atmosphere that can change a person's point of view of life forever. Jamaica Kincaid also uses literary devices in this essay such as diction and repetition in order to portray her distasteful attitude towards England domination of Antigua, which is the recurring theme in the essay. In the beggining,Kincaid writes about England with rembrence of her childhod. Althought it sounds like adulation when she states that England is a "special jewel alright ,and only special people got towear it",her sarcastic voice is evident here when she uses "special"and " alright".The use of those words highlith her true feelings of England. She does not feel that England is actually all that special and precious like people tend to believe. Even though only a certain few enjoy England , it is apparent that this idea does not apply Kincaid.

Jamaica kincaid uses the word "you" alot, trying to open the tourist eyes. She also wants us to fill uncomfortable  and realize that Antigua benith the beauty it has, is an island with lots of history. The tourist has to respect every place they go and has to know about the culture and all the important things it has as an island. We can not only focused on the beauty, we need to learned and appriciate all the pass it had. So that we can some how admire, respect, and appriciate all the things that know a day we see in every place we visit.

"A small place" by Jamaica kincaid

The novel by Jamaica Kincaid, A Small Place in chapter 1 & 2 the narrator it's giving her opinions of the many events and difficulties that have happened to the all the people of the island of Antigua. She explains and describe about the government corruption and the deficiency of the concern that the people of one nation has for tha people of another. She tells us the effects of slavery, because all of them where never taught how to be ordinary people. Antigua is a small island that their economy depends on their tourism.

In the first chapter what the author explains is that people goes to Antigua for vacations and to go traveling. Because some people want to see new things, so they explore in differents area. What she critizies is that the tourist don't care about the people that lives there or what they have been throught. She also complains about the new japanese cars, because we see how the goverment cares more about the tourist that the island of Antigua. That they don't have good hospitals, the streets are in bad conditions. But the good stuff it's brandal new so they can attached the turist. The goverment doesn't care about their education, because if they would, the libraries were construct already and they wouldn't wait for years. She talks about the Queen of England came to visit Antigua in 1985, the roads were paved a new to give her false impression that riding in a car in Antigua is a pleasant experience. When the rest of Antigua was a mess. The author  demosntrates or indicates the double standard of the government. She also talks about the old memories of Antiguas that were posses by colonial british and how the identity was not develop, because of their slavery pass.

Identity

All human beings have their own identity, either by our religion, housing or the manner of our upbringing. We can be all of one nation, but that does not make us equal to any of us. Each country have different cultures, beliefs and education. In these times we have lost our identity as Puerto Ricans. Nobody makes the traditions that we use to make years ago, because we don't value the beauty, the museums, the stories of our ancestors and our nation. Each country has it's charm, but unfortunately oure peolpe does not appreciate that  and prefer to travel to other nations. All of this happens because no one does the task of domestic tourism in the country. One of the things that stands out to us the human is where we come from and our language. That is our identity and our culture. What has gone over the years. The most important thing is to take ou're identity with us, because thatbus what we really are and where we come from.

Puerto Rico is and will be the island of enchantment. Has beauties to admire and places to appreciate. Although all these places has been controlled by the government, one to take money and protected the area. we should be proud of where we are and come from. People long to review Puerto Rico by its government and quality of life. The reality is that we have damaged the image of Puerto Rico, by our behavior and high crime. Actually the whole world is going through many crimes and economic problems. Not because of that Puerto Rico is not a place to visit, our country is going through needs. Although quality of life is extremely high that some people can't affored  and they can't not do many things. Imagine the tourist, who obviously charge more for not being here. Despite the negative, Puerto Rico is beautiful in every sense, except that the population makes it look negative.

Mr. Keating internal and external conflict

Mr. Keating had a group of boys that that where going through a life changing experience. He wanted to show them that life it's free and poetries it's the best way to express how you feel. He enables the boys to overcome shyness, fall in love, follow their dreams and to create a strong self image. Mr. Keating has a different method of teaching his students and he strives to teach more than just his subject matter, which is poetry. He wanted the boys to live their lifes on base their dreams where, because his goal was to inspire his students to be creative in their own way and expressing all their abilities. Keating's philosophy of "sieizing the day" helped define the boys who they really where. He really believe that everyone had their own way of thinking that way he said: " I always thought the idea of education was to learn to think for youreself".

The boys learned that they deserved more that the daily routine, that they were not satisfied with living up to the expectations of others. They establish the Dead Poet's Society that Keating took part when he was a student. Mr. Nolan observes Keating giving his students an exercise to prove the dangers of conformity. Neil Perry was the one that took very seriously the Dead Poet Society, because we wanted to be an actor, but his father wants him to go Harvard to become a doctor. When he commites suicide Neil's father request an inquiry into his son's death that Mr. Keating put hem up to acting business. Then all the boys where pressure into signing a declaration standing that it was Keating's abuse of their position that led to Neil's death. He was expolse of the academy, but when he was living, Todd was the one that stand up no his desk and honor him for everything he did for the boys. Sonner later most of the members did the same.

About me

My name is Kianna Nazario, you can call me kiki if you like. I was born in Puerto Rico in city of Toa Alta. I had been creating history since 1995, on May five. My parents had me when they were very young, so I was not really on their plans. They were 19 when they brought me to the world. They were not prepared to take care of a baby, because they were also one. Now that I’ve grown they had told me the importance of taking care of you and you’re future. I really don’t have plans of having a baby, because I actually don’t want any. I fell like I will never be prepared to have one. It’s too much responsibility and you need to dedicate so much time. I don’t know, maybe I’m not just that mentally mature. My plans are to become a veterinarian and travel the world with my friends. I don’t want to get marry either, work and have everything for me and my family. Those are my future goals wright now and I’m trying to keep them. I’m really focused on what I want, because the sacrifices from now would be my best results on the future.

I have two sisters and I’m the oldest one. I have all the responsibility in the house, because my mom and I are the rolling models for my little sister, Sophia. My other sister Alejandra is the small one; she is my dad’s daughter so I don’t spend too much time with her. My dad and I never had a good relationship, so that’s why I’m not so close to my little sister. Sophia is the middle one, but she lives with my mom and i. Like right now I’m the good one, because Sophia and Alejandra are the spoiled one. but when i had their age i was even worst. Some times i don´t like being the oldest one, because all the blames and problems goes for me. I love my sisters, but my position as a big sister it´s hard. i love them with all my heart and all die for them. I´m really greatfull and bless for my family, because they are all a have. My future plans will benefit them all that´s why i´m really focused in my dreams. I want to five them everything, specially to my mom, she has been so suportive and dedicate to me and my things. I know she deserves more than wath i can return.

The reflection of Running brave

Billy Mills is an american indian boy, that running was hes creedor. He was a very good man, very kind and he liked to help others. Just like his father, that unfortunately died when eh was a kid. Since litte he loved to run and when he grew up he got in to the best university of Kansas. That it was the best in sports in all america. He Wanted to became the best distance runner in the Tokyo olympics.

Billy Mills in a certain way he felt that he's coach din't believe in him. He was so decided and dedicated in What he wanted, that he keept working hard. Some how he knew that his team where rejecting him. He felt out of group. But he din't care anything, because he believes in his self. He allways think in his father, because he always thought hem that he could do everything If he fight for it. So nothing couldn't stop Billy Mills from hes dream.

The coach at the begging of the movie he din't want to put Billy in the team, because he had bad experience with otear indians. And coach said to him that they never finish their work. But Billy want it so bad that convinced him. When he got on the team he show his coach in the practice that he was prepare for everything. They called him the "indian boy". At the begging he din't make the cut for the olympics and i know it was  because of where he came. Because he was not american like the others. He was the only indian in the university of Kansas and his team try to make fun of him. But Billy demonstrate respect to all of them. He is a great example of not letting no one to stand in your dreams.
